A: The Suzuki method works for any student willing to follow instructions and has proven successful for adults as well as children. Dr. Barrett's many years of teaching allow her to effectively accommodate diverse learning styles.
Q: Are lessons given privately or in groups?
A: Both. Dr. Barrett prefers students attend both private and group lessons to gently acclimate them to performing in front of others.
Q: What instruments are taught?
A: Dr. Barrett personally provides all group and private instruction for violin, cello and piano.

Q: Do students ever perform?
A: Yes! Dr. Barrett considers it an important aspect of a student's musical training to have the experience of performing in front of an audience. The studio gives 4 recitals per year, 3 of which are conducted at the Reston Community Center. The studio may be invited to perform for other events and has concertized with the Washington Symphony Orchestra in the past.
Q: Can I come and observe a lesson?
A: Prospective students and their parents are welcome to observe both private and group lessons. Feel free to call the studio to arrange a time.
Q: Can my child take violin lessons, even if I don't have an instrument?
